Mark R. Torry is a native of Fenelon Falls. He grew up working in his family’s health food store, but turned to construction upon graduating from secondary school. However, he quickly came to realize the benefits of chiropractic care during his time as a homebuilder. After graduating from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science degree, he then attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999 and returned to Fenelon Falls to start a practice. Cliffside Chiropractic Centre opened its doors in October 1999.
Dr. Susan L. Hochstenbach, Ph.D., D.C.
Susan L. Hochstenbach’s long journey into chiropractic service began in 1985 when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused both back and knee problems. Chiropractic care quickly resolved those problems and enabled Susan to resume her normal daily life when other forms of care did not.
Upon completing her four year honours degree in physiology at the University of Western Ontario in 1991, Susan entered into the Ph.D. program, obtaining her doctorate in 1997. Her specialty was neurophysiology and her specific field of study was how the central nervous system controlled the cardiovascular system. Her funding was provided by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Susan has many publications and has presented her research across both Canada and the United States.
During her time at Western, Susan continued with her chiropractic care, until given the opportunity to enter chiropractic college in the fall of 1996. Susan L. Hochstenbach graduated Magna Cum Laude from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2000.
A Business Together
In the summer of 2000, Mark and Susan bought the existing practice of Rahn Chiropractic Centre, a practice that had been successfully serving the community of Lindsay for over 30 years. Together, they have been helping the families of the City of Kawartha Lakes for over 15 years now.
Susan and Mark, business partners for over a year, married, with a family quickly following. The name change for the Lindsay practice to Family Chiropractic Solutions in 2006 solidified their commitment to help the families of Lindsay and Fenelon Falls in their quest for natural forms of healing.
The stressors of daily living, working and even playing can influence how one performs and, by eliminating the spinal interferences that these stressors cause, can allow people to reach their maximum potential. Both doctors continue to pursue new techniques and therapies to further their understanding of how the body works and responds to different treatment modalities. However, Susan and Mark primarily utilize Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique in which they both hold an advanced proficiency rating. Both Doctors were Associate Clinical Instructors with Activator Methods International for 2 years.
